Policy Brief
Bipartisan psilocybin therapy bill gaining momentum at the Capitol

MN legislature
A bipartisan group of Minnesota lawmakers is advancing a bill that would allow regulated psilocybin-assisted therapy for certain mental health conditions.
The proposal would create a state-run therapeutic program for adults 21 and older, allowing patients with qualifying conditions to receive supervised psilocybin treatment from licensed facilitators.
Under the bill, psilocybin — the psychedelic compound found in certain mushrooms — would be reclassified under Minnesota law and used only in controlled medical settings, not for recreational use.
Patients would need a health screening and physician certification before participating, and treatments would take place at licensed facilities or approved private residences with a trained facilitator present.
Supporters say emerging research suggests psychedelic-assisted therapy may help treat conditions like PTSD, depression, and addiction, while opponents say more study is needed before broad legalization.
The bill recently advanced through a Minnesota House committee with bipartisan support and will continue moving through the legislative process this session.
Food Scene Brief
Steakhouse concept expands to the west metro

Local restaurant Kitchen and Rail has opened a second location in Golden Valley, taking over the former Mort’s Deli space in the Golden Valley Shopping Center.
The restaurant originally launched in Eagan in 2022 and quickly built a following for its steakhouse-style menu and cocktails. The new location adds weekday lunch service and private event space, something the original restaurant didn’t offer.
Menu favorites like the Filet Mignon Sandwich and Nana’s Meatballs are carrying over to the new location as the restaurant expands its footprint in the Twin Cities.

Minneapolis Park Board planning major trail improvements
The Minneapolis Park and Recreation Board is moving forward with plans to upgrade several popular biking and walking trails across the city.
The improvements include resurfacing aging paths, improving lighting, and expanding connections between existing trails. Several projects are expected to begin later this year as the city prepares for another busy outdoor season. Projects include repairs of the pedestrian and bicycle trail segments along Bde Maka Ska and Minnehaha Parkway Regional Trail.
Minneapolis consistently ranks among the most bike-friendly cities in the U.S., and these upgrades are meant to keep the system competitive as more residents rely on biking and walking for commuting and recreation.
